Nicotinamide is a freely soluble (500 mg/mL) metabolized amide form of vitamin B3.
In cells, nicotinamide is converted into NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate) which are both involved in redox reactions.
Nicotinamide has also been used as an anti-cancer agent to inhibit PARP-1, an enzyme responsible for repairing DNA damage caused by chemotherapy treatment.
Suitable for use in cell culture.
