Our Story:

In 2009 while Sean Seaver was pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Toledo, the research lab he worked in was running out of funding. In an effort to save money, Sean created a spreadsheet of the necessary chemicals and supplies needed to finish his research along with the best price to get each item. It soon became clear that it was possible to obtain significant savings on items if they were ordered from small manufacturers, instead of using the university’s academic discount or large vendors.

As you may know, comparing chemicals and supplies can be quite tedious and time consuming so the spreadsheet took weeks to prepare. Other graduate students were soon asking the best places to buy supplies. The word soon spread and professors in other departments were starting  to ask where they could get better priced supplies.

In 2010, in order to share this cost savings information with a wider audience, the company P212121 and this website were created. Today, the company continues to find and list the lowest prices on all lab items to make your grants last longer.
