Oxolinic acid is a quinolone antibiotic that works by inhibiting the enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in affected non-resistant cells which disrupts the synthesis of DNA.  Oxolinic acid works by inhibiting the enzyme DNA-gyrase.

Potent against rickettsia, mycoplasma and spirochaeta.
