Cephalothin sodium is a first generation cephalosporin antibiotic and is freely soluble in aqueous solution (50 mg/mL).
Cephalothin is commonly used in clinical in vitro microbiological antimicrobial susceptibility tests (panels, discs, and MIC strips) against gram negative microbial isolates.
