Ceftazidime Pentahydrate is third generation cephalosporin. Unlike most third-generation agents, ceftazidime is active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, however ceftazidime has weaker activity against Gram-positive microorganisms and is not used for such infections. The charged pyridinum moiety increases water-solubility.
