Pefloxacin is an antibiotic with chemotherapeutic qualities. Pefloxacin is highly active against Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, other enterobacteria, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Active against gram-positive bacteria and excellent activity against gram-negative bacteria. Pefloxacin prevents bacterial DNA replication by inhibiting DNA gyrase.
