Antineoplastic antibiotic that acts as an alkylating agent after activation.  Mitomycin C supresses the synthesis of nucleic acids and inhibits DNA synthesis.  Mitomycin C can inhibit both gram positive and negative bacteria and acid-fact bacilli.  A cell-cylce non specific agent, most active in the late G1 and early S phases.
