Bacteriostatic antibiotic with activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
Minocycline works by binding to the A location of the ribosomal 30S subunit, prevent the extension of peptide chain, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis in bacterial or other pathogenic microorganisms.
Minocycline is effective against sensitive and resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Minocyclinehas also a little stronger antibacterial activity against green aureus, star actinomycetes, pneumococcus and Neisseria gonorrhoeae than tetracycline and a similar antibacterial strength to tetracycline against Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, etc.
