10-Deacetyl Baccatin III is a natural organic compound isolated from the bark of the Pacific yew tree (Taxus brevifolia) and related species.   10-Deacetyl Baccatin III is often used as the intermediate in the chemical synthesis of the anti-cancer drug paclitaxel (Taxol). Taxol is of interest since it has shown to be a highly effective anticancer drug extensively used in the treament of various carcinomas, melanomas and sarcomas.

The 10-Deacetyl Baccatin III-10-O acetyl transferase cDNA is sucessfully coloned and expressed in E. Coli.

Soluble in DMSO, chloroform, methanol (hot). Not water soluble.
