Acyl CoA dehydrogenase is the enzyme used to catalyze the first step of ß-oxidation in fatty acid metabolism. Acyl-coenzyme A (CoA) dehydrogenases (ACADs) are a family of mitochondrial enzymes that catalyze the first dehydrogenation step in the bets-oxidation of fatty acyl-CoA derivatives. Several human ACADs exist and all ACADs catalyze the same initial dehydrogenation of the substrate at the beta-carbon atom and require electron transfer flavoprotein as an alectron acceptor.

Available in 6 forms of acyl-CoA dehydrogenase including Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family member 8 mitochondrial (ACAD8), Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase, C-2 to C-3 (ACADS), Short/branched chain specific acyl-CoA dehydrogenase mitochondrial (ACADSB), Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase, C-4 to C-12 (ACADM), Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase long chain (ACADL), Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase very long chain (ACADVL). All ACAD proteins have either a T7 or His tag.

All recombinant ACAD are sourced from E. coli.

ACAD General Information

Storage:

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 2-4 weeks (1 week for ACAD8 and ACADM).

Store frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).

Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
