Meropenem is a semi-synthetic beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the subgroup of carbapenem with a very broad antibacterial spectrum.

Meropenem is bactericidal except against Listeria monocytogenes where it is bacteriostatic. Meropenem inhibits bacterial wall synthesis like other beta-lactam antibiotics.

Many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including Pseudomonas) and even some anaerobic bacteria.  The spectrum of action includes many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including Pseudomonas) and even some anaerobic bacteria.
