Gelzan

(formally Gelrite)

Naturally derived gelling polymer that can be used in place of agar. Gelzan forms clear, rigid gels at approximately half the use level of agar in presence of soluble salts like Mg²+ and Ca²+.  Gelzan is water soluble and should be stored at room temperature.

Concentration of 5.0 g/l obtains a solid gel. Strength: (1600 g/cm²)
